The Certificate of Leadership encapsulates a comprehensive continuing education package, featuring interactive sessions at the Leadership Symposium (March 20 – 22, 2025, in San Diego, CA), a curated selection of on-demand courses, and an exclusive virtual Certificate of Leadership Day (June 2025).
This trailblazing program is tailored for:
- MFTs aspiring to ascend to leadership roles within their professional spheres, communities, or within AAMFT.
- MFTs keen on pivotal positions in advocacy or policy development.
- Emerging MFTs seeking to construct a robust foundation in leadership to navigate and shape their career paths.

- Immersive In-Person Training: Delve into intensive sessions during the Leadership Symposium, immersing yourself in key areas of leadership development—bridging the gap between theory and practical application (March 20 – 22).

Scholarship
AAMFT is committed to fostering diverse leadership within the field, and we are pleased to offer up to five (5) scholarships for deserving participants in the 2025 Certificate of Leadership program. These scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, ensuring that individuals with high leadership potential in the marriage and family therapy profession can benefit from this transformative program.

- Statement of Personal Interest in participating in the Certificate of Leadership Program including your reflections on: (no more than one (1) page):

- Give us examples of your personal or professional leadership across your lifespan.
- This year’s scholarships are being offered with preference to those with financial need. Please provide relevant information you would like to share with the reviewers.
- What other information do you wish to share that will aid in the decision-making?
Cancellation Policy
In the case of circumstances beyond its control, AAMFT reserves the right to make necessary changes in presenters and content of all AAMFT Certificate of Leadership training.
Due to the nature of the training related to the AAMFT Certificate of Leadership, cancellations and any subsequent request for refund must be made 30 days prior to the start of the Leadership Symposium for a full refund. Cancellations made between 29 days and 10 days before the start of the Leadership Symposium, will be eligible for a 25% refund. Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the Leadership Symposium will not be eligible for a refund.
All cancellation requests must be made in writing and can be sent to central@aamft.org.
