2022 Arizona Interest Network Annual Spring Conference (In Person)

DAY 1: Rachel Thomas, LMFT, and Bonnie Lewis, LMFT and are going to co-present on the general fundamentals of Emotionally Focused Therapy, specifically working from this attachment approach. They will coach you on how to apply those tools to working with Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, EFT, and Trauma. They will be incorporating information, watching actual sessions that have been recorded including a consult Rachel did with Dr. Sue Johnson on an individual therapy session and having experiential/practice opportunities throughout this rich day-long training.

Learning Objectives:
-Participants will be able to define attachment and increase awareness of how it shows up in strategies clients use in their lives due to past wounds
-Gain general knowledge of EFT in couples, individuals, and families (i.e. EFT, EFIT, and EFFT)
-Ability to conceptualize interventions in a session through the lens of EFT
-Gain an understanding and ability to identify the negative interaction cycle that occurs in couples, families, and individuals lives due to past trauma and wounds
-Ability to identify when a couple’s negative interaction cycle is alive in a session and learn how to help couples gain control of their cycle to create corrective experiences and new patterns
-Learn emotional deepening skills such as reflections, as a way to expand emotional capacity and understand how experiential work is important in the work with all clients of all modalities
-Learn and observe the importance of attunement and the therapists' use of self in EFT across modalities

DAY 2: Dr. Sarah Bald and Casey Heinsch, LMFT will discuss the impact of atypical neurodevelopment, such as learning disabilities, executive challenges, and giftedness on youth. Their presentation will provide education on cultural and economic disparities of youth struggling with neurodiversity. The presentation will incorporate fundamental information on types of atypical development, and how to best support the youth in psychotherapy and within the classroom.

Learning Objectives:
-Gain an understanding and knowledge of neurodiversity, specific to specific learning disorders, giftedness, and executive deficits
-Acquire an understanding and knowledge of the impact of economic and cultural disparities of specific learning disorders and executive deficits
-Development of therapeutic tools for how to work with neurodiverse clients in the therapy room
-Learn to understand the social and learning landscape of a diverse child in the classroom setting
