Oklahoma Christian University

Oklahoma Christian University is located in Edmond, OK and offers a Master of Science in Human Sciences with a Marriage and Family Therapy track. This program requires the completion of 49 credit hours within a cohort-based model through a semi-structured two-year pathway. Program graduate students who wish to grow as researchers can also complete a thesis track requiring six additional hours and a possible additional semester. All in-person courses are scheduled in the evening with the assumption that our student majority is employed either full or part-time. However, check-ins for preferences and possibilities of training clinic hours will be conducted in an ongoing manner. Students are required to complete 300 face-to-face clinical hours through a mix of time in the OC MFT training clinic and offsite at their external practicum placement.

The program equips students for the practice of marriage and family therapy by framing their work-elements through a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens. The educational experience for our student therapists also focuses a balanced effort of theoretical, clinical, professional, and ethical approaches in order to: (1) best support student readiness for their post graduate vocational path; (2) support patient change by training our students to be excellent marriage and family therapists; and, (3) positively influence the behavioral health workforce in Oklahoma and the nation by training clinicians who are ready on day one of their membership into that workforce.

This program provides a curriculum that aligns with COAMFTE accreditation standards so that when the appropriate numbers of years and data has been reached, OC can make application through that process.
