As a Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, friend and avid student, I strive for professionalism in all aspects of my life. I am dedicated to exhibiting excellence in all I do whether performing duties as an active duty spouse on numerous Family Readiness events and command functions, to supporting veterans and their families, as well as formerly contributing in my community as a literacy coach for underprivileged youth. As I continue to put the true meaning of serving others at the forefront of my life, I decided to study the field of psychology and gain my Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina in 2009. I am currently a graduate student at Capella University completing my Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy, and steadily approaching graduation at the end of 2019. I am also an active member of the Delta Kappa International Marriage and Family Therapy Honor Society and The Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic & Professional International Honor Society. I have begun working with other passionate MFTs to restructure the North East Florida Chapter of Marriage and Family Therapists. As a student and future LMFT, I am invested in emphasizing a more integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. I am particularly interested in the impact of military service on servicemembers and their families; the rarely discussed and focused on transition to civilian life and reverse culture shock; and the imperative painstaking knowledge that marriage itself has continued to be pushed to the rear of mission accomplishment and military obligation. I am honored to be the FIN Student Representative, as I am excited to complete and share my academic journey with you all, and I can’t wait for us to take our first steps into our careers as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists together!
