Minnesota Passes Access MFTs Licensure Portability!

On Saturday, May 16th, the Minnesota legislature passed House File 3285. HF 3285 is a large health omnibus bill. The Access MFTs language can be found in Article 8 of the bill. Under this bill, MFTs applying for licensure by endorsement in Minnesota will be required to hold a full license in good standing in another state, pass a jurisprudence examination, and pay the applicable fee to qualify for licensure.

The next step for HF 3285 is to be signed by the governor. Continue to check back for updates as this bill makes its way through the final step of the legislative process. If you have any questions, concerns, or stories about portability in Minnesota, please reach out to portability@aamft.org

🚨 HISTORIC NEWS 🚨

MFT Portability is NOW THE LAW in Minnesota! 🎉

Governor signed HF3825 (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/94/2026/0/HF/3825/versions/1/) on May 27th! After months of incredible advocacy by so many amazing people, the Access MFTs language in Article 8 is officially law. Licensed MFTs can now more easily move to Minnesota or serve Minnesotans through licensure by endorsement.

So incredibly proud to have been part of this journey. Thank you to everyone who made this happen — this one is for every MFT who ever struggled with licensure barriers! 💪
