On February 7th, LB 257 was heard in the Health and Human Services Committee of Nebraska’s unicameral legislature. AAMFT would like to express our deep appreciation to the Nebraska Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the MFTs who took time out of their schedules to attend the hearing, provide testimony, and answer questions from committee members.
The MFTs who testified helped underscore the importance of reducing licensing barriers for qualified professionals relocating to Nebraska. Their stories and insights helped legislators understand the tangible benefits of licensure portability for both practitioners and the communities they serve.
Following a favorable reception from committee members, LB 257 was advanced to the full legislative body for future floor votes. This marks a key milestone in Nebraska’s legislative process and signals strong momentum for the bill’s continued success.
Please continue to check back in for further developments on LB 257.
