Georgia MFT Portability Legislation Advances out of Committee with Unanimous Support

Today, we're thrilled to share an exciting update on our endeavors in Georgia. Senate bill, SB 373, has not only navigated the Senate Regulated Industries Committee with a unanimous vote of support but has also garnered widespread support from influential entities such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness Georgia (NAMI Georgia), Voices for Georgia’s Children, Georgians for a Healthy Future, University of Georgia College of Family & Consumer Science, Dept of Human Development and Family Science, Valdosta State University, Marriage and Family Therapy Program, Resilient Georgia, CHRIS 180, Georgia Supportive Housing Association, Georgia Mental Health Policy Partnership, Georgia Mountains Health, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (Georgia Chapter), and Grady Memorial Hospital.

As we move through the legislative process, we extend our gratitude to those who testified and provided written support for the bill. Active participation from advocates on the ground has been instrumental in reaching this milestone. Looking ahead, we anticipate the bill's progression to the next stage – a vote on the Senate floor. This presents a crucial opportunity for further advocacy, and we encourage those interested to join our grassroots advocacy network, AAMFT’s Family TEAM, to stay informed and engaged.
