The Family Therapists in Schools Interest Network exists to support AAMFT members in connecting, networking, and sharing knowledge about school-based practice. We support local legislative efforts and attempts to allow MFTs to be hired into public and private educational settings. Our goals are to promote school training for MFTs, help MFTs currently in schools connect with and support each other, build knowledge among legislators, administrators, and staff about the need for family therapy in schools, and increase employment opportunities for family therapists in schools.
Network benefits include:
- Website with state-based resources and regulations
- Monthly eNewsletter
- Networking and professional development events
- Advocacy efforts to educate legislators, public officials, and school administrators about family therapy in schools
- Promotion of systemic and school-based clinical services in collaboration with MFTs and other allied mental health professions
