Scholarship Application for the 2026 AAMFT Certificate of Leadership

We are thrilled to announce the availability of scholarships for the 2026 cohort of the AAMFT Certificate of Leadership program, designed to empower MFTs at all levels in advancing their careers and contributing to the growth of our dynamic profession. The program includes the following highlights:

  • Live training at the Leadership Symposium
  • Online/on-demand training
  • DiSC inventory (personalized leadership assessment)
  • Mentor pairing
  • Community Engagement Leadership portfolio development
  • Discount to the in-person 2027 Systemic Family Therapy Conference 

AAMFT is committed to fostering diverse leadership within the field, and we are pleased to offer up to five (5) scholarships, based on needs, for deserving participants in the 2026 Certificate of Leadership program. These scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, ensuring that individuals with high leadership potential in the marriage and family therapy profession can benefit from this transformative program. Scholarship recipients will be responsible for covering their own travel expenses, including transportation, hotel, and meals not covered by the Leadership Symposium.

To be considered for this scholarship opportunity, please submit the following documents:

  1. Two letters of reference addressing your potential as a leader from a mentor, supervisor, employer, or other professional acquaintance. 300 words max.
  2. Statement of Personal Interest in participating in the Certificate of Leadership Program including your reflections on (300 words max):

    a.    What are your professional and personal strengths?

    b.      Where do you see yourself professionally in five years?

    c.       Give us examples of your personal or professional leadership across your lifespan.

    d.      What other information do you wish to share that will aid in the decision-making?

  3. This year’s scholarships are offered with preference to those with financial need. Please provide relevant information you would like to share with the reviewers. 100 words max in a separate document.

We encourage all applicants to ensure their availability for the entirety of the program, including participation in the 2026 Leadership Symposium (April 16 – 18, 2026, Atlanta, GA) and the Certificate of Leadership Training Day (June 2026, date TBD).
