JMFT

As the flagship journal of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the profession, and the largest-circulation family therapy journal in the world, we are dedicated to both reflect and foster the best scholarship in our field within and across national borders, scholarship that makes a difference and moves our field forward.

JMFT also must be responsive and evolving.  It should be accessible and of interest to both researchers and clinicians and be sensitive to issues of diversity and social justice.  We cannot be all things to all people, but we should strive to make the journal relevant and engaging, as well as scholarly. Both veteran and early-career scholars should see JMFT as the first place to send their work, and a place where, even if their work is not accepted, they have been treated fairly and honorably, in a timely manner, and will become better scholars through the process.  We also acknowledge the teaching and learning aspects of our journal to doctoral students in COAMFTE-accredited programs, many of whom become socialized to the review process through their involvement in the doctoral student reviewer apprenticeship program.
