Description
The Foundation for the Advancement of Human Systems annually confers up to two awards to recognize a published article, monograph, book chapter, or book representing an outstanding scholarly achievement in systemic therapy research. Outstanding scholarly achievement is construed broadly to include a variety of methods and inquiry (quantitative, qualitative, or conceptual), and a variety of findings, including those that confirm previous work, challenge previous work, or generate new areas of inquiry.
Criteria
This award may be self-nominated or nominated by a third party, and at least one applicant must be a member of AAMFT. The nominator must submit the article and a written statement (500 words max) explaining why the article should be selected.
Required Materials
All self-nominations require a letter of recommendation to be submitted with materials.
Award
The award consists of:
• An engraved plaque presented at an AAMFT event (virtual or in person).
• Reimburse up to $500 per recipient for travel to the SFTC for the year the conference is held in person. If the award is given during virtual years, the awardee may use the travel award toward the upcoming Advanced Institutes or Leadership Symposium.
• The event registration fee will also be waived for the award recipient(s) (when applicable).
*The FAHS will reimburse up to a total of $500 for economy class airfare, transportation to/from the airport/hotel, meals per AAMFT allowances for the one day of the ceremony, and one night's hotel stay at one of the AAMFT event hotels (at the special discounted rate) for the night of the ceremony. You must submit itemized receipts upon your return from the event. Alcohol will not be reimbursed.
