Volunteer Opportunity Details

Description 

The Foundation for the Advancement of Human Systems honors one AAMFT member each year for continuous, meritorious, and generative contributions to research in systemic therapy.

Criteria

Must be a member of AAMFT. This award can be self-nominated by an AAMFT member. Nominators must submit a curriculum vitae of the person being nominated and a written statement (500 words max) of ways that the nominee demonstrates a cumulative contribution to systemic therapy research and meets one or more of the following criteria:

1. 
   1. Development of original theory that stimulates the systematic study of important issues in systemic therapy.
   2. Superior design and execution of research programs.
   3. Pioneering explorations of new research areas.
   4. Significant contribution to substantive knowledge in the field.
   5. Codification of a field of inquiry.
   6. Conceptual integration.
   7. New techniques of measurement, data collection, and data analysis.

Required Materials
All self-nominations require a letter of recommendation to be submitted with materials.

Award
The award consists of:

• An engraved plaque presented at an AAMFT Event (virtual or in person).
• Reimburse up to $1,000 per recipient in travel expenses to the Systemic Family Therapy Conference (SFTC) when the conference is held in person. If the award is given during virtual years, the awardee may use the travel award toward the
upcoming Advanced Institutes or Leadership Symposium.
• The event registration fee will be waived for the award recipient(s) when applicable.

*The FAHS will reimburse up to a total of $1,000 for economy class airfare, transportation to/from airport/hotel, meals per AAMFT allowances for the one day of the ceremony, and one night's hotel stay at one of the AAMFT event hotels (at the special discounted rate) for the night of the ceremony. You must submit itemized receipts upon your return from the event.
