The Board of Directors and Leadership Development and Recruitment Committee (LDRC) seek out the following qualifications in nominees: 2026 Board of Directors Nominations and Vetting Process.
AAMFT Leadership Competencies and Job Descriptions
The following leadership competencies were developed for each of the AAMFT Board of Directors positions, including Officer positions, according to association best practices. Job descriptions can be found here. Please review them when considering members to nominate.
The following positions are open for nominations for the 2026 nomination cycle (terms of office to begin January 1, 2027):
President-Elect: Term of 2 years as President-Elect, term of 2 years as President, term 1 year as Past President. 5 years total commitment. One position is to be filled.
Secretary: Term of 3 years. One position is to be filled.
Board of Directors: Term of 3 years. Three positions are to be filled.
Travel expenses are covered for all in-person meetings, including flights, hotel, and meals.

- Tell us about your experience with governance, leadership, or service within AAMFT.

- Describe your understanding of AAMFT’s mission, strategic plan, and your alignment with its values, particularly its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Provide examples of how you demonstrate the following AAMFT Leadership Competencies.
- In what ways have you promoted or applied principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in your professional or volunteer work?
- What unique skills, perspectives, or experiences would you bring to the AAMFT Board that would help strengthen its work and representation of members and would add value to AAMFT’s strategic direction?
