How to be an MFT in Times of Great Divide

When:  Aug 19, 2022 from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  AAMFT South Carolina
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in America continue to face discrimination in their daily lives. While more states every year work to pass laws to protect LGBTQ people, we continue to see state legislatures advancing bills that target transgender people, limit local protections, and allow the use of religion to discriminate. This session is aimed at promoting therapy and support of LGBTQI+ populations as a public health priority to prevent or reduce behaviors associated with family rejection of LGBTQI+ populations by providing developmentally appropriate support, counseling, or information to parents, families, caregivers, child welfare, and school personnel, or health care professionals on how to support an LGBTQI+ individuals safety and well-being.

In this two hour webinar presented by Dr. Alex Karydi will focus on explaining how the current political claimant impacts the work of a therapist, how to differentiate our personal views with our ethical and evidence based practice, and practice how to support populations that feel under threat.
