Helping Clients Navigate Trauma and Betrayal in Relationship

Trauma and betrayal are two challenges that therapists will encounter while working with couples. Knowing how to identify, define, and provide healthy treatment options for the couples we work with is an essential part of the therapeutic process. Participants will gain many valuable insights and be introduced to a variety of resources for working with couples who have experienced trauma or betrayal.

Join us in-person at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Airport Hotel & Convention Center as we resume the SCAMFT tradition of holding a Spring Conference in Charleston the first weekend in June! We will follow all COVID protocols in place at the time of the event to ensure that attendees can network and learn safely.

Meet our Speaker:

Susan Tankersley
Susan Tankersley has had a passion for families for thirty years. She began working in her local church children and youth ministries at the age of 18. In order better help families, Susan returned to school earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from North Greenville University and a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse College. Susan earned a two year Fellowship with WestGate Training and Consultation Network at the completion of her graduate program. 
In 2010 Susan began teaching in the Psychology Department of North Greenville University and opened her first private practice. As Susan continued to learn and grow as a Marriage and Family Therapist she had a strong desire to help train other mental health professionals. In 2013 Susan began taking on graduate student interns to mentor and supervise. In 2019 Susan created the non-profit teaching clinic, Heritage Institute where she serves as a Supervisor and the Executive Director. 
Currently, in the private practice Susan Tankersley Family Therapy, Susan works with high conflict couples and high conflict families involved with the family court system. She is developing a Parenting Coordinator Certification in order to train others to work with high conflict families. 
Susan continues to research and learn. Her latest research project is helping couples heal through trauma and betrayal.

13 CEs have been approved by AAMFT for LMFT and LPC in SC. Please verify with your state licensing board as to whether AAMFT approved events are applicable for your license in your state.
