Many of the most effective interventions never become integrated in real world practice. The interdisciplinary field of implementation science investigates strategies for moving evidence-based interventions into routine care, and improves outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. This workshop introduces key terms, perspectives, research questions, and design issues in the field. Because of the complex system and organizational settings for implementing interventions, we will cover pragmatic designs that balance internal and external validity when testing implementation strategies. The workshop will also include discussion of critical topics and future directions for expanding implementation science in systemic family therapy.
