"Trans-Affirming Skill-building Using Deliberate Practice"

When:  Aug 26, 2022 from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM (ET)

This workshop will demonstrate the use of Deliberate Practice, a cutting-edge development in clinical skill-building, to support clinicians providing affirming services to gender minority (GM) clients and their families. Presenters will address the current state of training in affirming therapy techniques, and lead Deliberate Practice exercises to demonstrate how this tool can be used with trainees, supervisees, consultation groups, and self-supervision. Suitable for clinicians of all genders, the workshop addresses clinical skill development for both cisgender and GM clinicians when working with adults, couples, youth, and families.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will be able to

  1. Describe two principles of Deliberate Practice
  2. Identify two advantages of Deliberate Practice as a tool for building clinical skills
  3. Describe how Deliberate Practice could be used to address self-of-therapist issues that may arise when working with gender minority clients and their families
2 CEUs will be available for this webinar.
