Within the current sociopolitcal moment, clinicians are called to reexamine our approaches to serving individuals, intimate partnerships and families, especially those underserved at the intersection of race, gender and sexuality. Through a neuroqueer, intersectional lens and guided by Indigenous decolonial work, this webinar will allow practitioners to interrogate the ongoing self-work needed to decolonize our practice and incorporate liberatory methods while working toward the inclusive future we all strive for.

Livingstone Carter Cox completed their master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Syracuse University as a Ronald E. McNair Graduate Fellow and graduated with honors from Elizabeth City State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish. They are currently completing their PhD in Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech. A first of its kind, their dissertation focuses on the being, becoming and belonging processes of Black transgender men. Livingstone utilized their passion for intersectional, trauma-informed care as an Assistant Director of the Cultural and Community Centers at Virginia Tech and Programming Coordinator of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at Penn State. Their current independent scholarship focuses on how Black transgender, non-binary, and intersex people embody a critical intersectional futurism, and a radical spiritual consciousness that holds keys to intrapersonal and interpersonal liberation.
