In our work with couples and families in New York State and elsewhere, questions about divorce and family law often come up. While it is not our responsibility to know all the exact legal answers to all such questions, it is important that we at least understand the questions and have some idea about the law and how it might affect our clients and their children and families. In this workshop, very experienced attorney and divorce mediator Glenn E. Dornfeld, Esq. will start by giving us a brief overview of the lay of the land in NYS divorce law. Then he will focus in on areas of the law that are especially important for us to know as family therapists, correcting misconceptions and updating us on current NYS law as applies to our clients. The goal of this talk will be to better prepare us to help couples and families through difficult situations by giving them basic, clear, accurate information so they can find the help they need and make good decisions together about their future and the future of their families.

About the Presenter:

Glenn E. Dornfeld, Esq., is a mediator, trainer, mentor, and family/divorce attorney with a solo mediation and legal practice in Manhattan. He handles family law mediation and negotiations, but does not litigate. He frequently teaches and coaches mediators in various settings. Glenn has been a member of the Metro Chapter of NYAMFT from the mid-1990’s through its recent designation as the NYMFT Network. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations to any paid event and any subsequent request for refund must be made in writing no later than 15 days prior to the start of the event. Upon cancellation you have the right to request that your fee (in full) be held (for up to one year) and used toward another event registration from this same AAMFT Network. If you prefer a refund, cancellations made more than 45 days before the event will receive a 75% refund. Cancellations made between 44 and 15 days before the event will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be offered within 14 days of the event.
