Working with Families Struggling with Perinatal and Postpartum Mental Health Issues

Perinatal mood disorders impact myriads if our clients every day. Very few clinicians have specific training in assessing and treating perinatal mood disorders, colloquially known as postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and others. In this course, learn how to assess for and differentiate between different types of perinatal mood disorders, including key treatment techniques.

Our presenter, Sarah Hofer, MA, LMFT, PMH-C, has been in practice for over a decade and has a private practice in Eagle, Idaho. A survivor of postpartum depression, she enjoys spending time with her three beautiful children, 5-year-old twin boys and a 4-year-old daughter. She is passionate about working with women and families experiencing perinatal mood disorders and networking with other clinicians eager to treat the same population.

Session Learning Objectives:
1. Successfully assess for and identify perinatal mood disorders in women and families.
2. Understand some of the key factors and research that contribute to presence of perinatal mood disorders.
3. Learn some effective skills in treating these disorders within this population.
