Overview
The primary focus of this webinar is understanding the fiduciary role played by a licensed marriage and family therapist. Dr. Scott Ketring will focus on fiduciary relationships and responsibilities that impact the therapist's standard of care provided, breaches, and negligence claims. The presentation will cover the standard of care regarding informed consent, notes, and common boundary concerns within the therapeutic relationship. MFTs will also discuss the differences between boundary violations and crossing using a virtue ethics approach to understand ethical client care. Virtue ethics outlines the fiduciary responsibilities of ethical practice related to therapist disclosure, human contact, and client interactions. Attendees will develop a theory-based ethical mindset.
