The Hidden Resource in Family Therapy - Your Client's Siblings
Speakers: Dr. Karen Gail Lewis
Participants will learn a theoretical framework, four key concepts, for thinking about siblings as an important factor in working with their individual, couple, and family clients. An example of one of the four keys: early childhood relationships can be considered a laboratory, or “first marriage,” for adult love relationships, through the process of “sibling transference.”
Participants will learn to assess when there is a sibling connection to clients’ presenting problems, and how to help their clients see that connection. The hidden resource of siblings is especially helpful in dealing with intractable problems.
