Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy: 2-Part Webinar

When:  Dec 10, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 03:30 PM (ET)

Join us for a two-part series on Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT). This webinar will include both an introduction to IBCT and an application of this model to an online couples relationship program called OurRelationship.com.

Date and Time: Friday, December 10th from 12:00PM to 3:30PM ET

Sessions:

  1. Introduction to Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy

Couples often struggle with navigating partner differences and initiating positive behavioral changes in their relationship. Andrew Christensen, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and distinguished research professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) will discuss Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and how it works towards the twin goals of acceptance and change through a behavioral treatment framework. Christensen will give an overview of the theoretical background of IBCT as well as the assessment, feedback, and active intervention phases of IBCT.

    Time: 12:00PM to 1:30PM ET

  2. IBCT & OurRelationship.com: A Model for Integration

Most couples do not seek couple therapy before divorcing; moreover, those that do are often unable to attend a full course of treatment because of logistical or financial barriers. Dr. Brian Doss, professor of psychology at the University of Miami, will present a model for integrating the online OurRelationship program into an abbreviated 8-session course of IBCT. This integration is expected to help overcome significant treatment barriers while maximizing treatment effectiveness.

    Time: 2:00PM to 3:30PM ET

Speakers:

Andrew Christensen, Ph.D.

Andrew Christensen, Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology at UCLA, developed Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) along with the late Neil Jacobson. IBCT has been adopted throughout the U. S. Veteran’s Administration and been adapted into an online program, www.OurRelationship.com , with both in-person and online versions demonstrating efficacy for couples. Christensen has given workshops on IBCT throughout the world. His work has been cited in the Washington Post, New York Times, Time Magazine, USA Today, and other news outlets.

Brian Doss, Ph.D.

Dr. Brian D. Doss is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami. His research is focused on ways to increase the reach of couple interventions, with a special focus on technology. As Director of a 15-year project funded by NIH and the Administration for Children and Families, he has provided online services (via smartphones) to more than 5,000 distressed low-income and military couples nationwide. Dr. Doss has over 100 professional publications and is a co-author of two books: a self-help book for distressed couples (Reconcilable Differences) and a couple therapy manual (Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy: A Therapists Guide to Creating Acceptance and Change). Dr. Doss’ research has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Miami Herald, and elsewhere.
