Working with Couples in Telehealth

When:  Mar 30, 2020 from 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM (ET)
With the global pandemic of COVID-19, many therapists have transitioned their practices to an online, telehealth format. This is a new, and sometimes frightening, adventure for many of us - and the Couples & Intimate Relationship Topical Interest Network wants to help! We are offering this workshop, free of charge, to help understand the intricacies of working with couples in a telemental health format. This workshop is not being offered with CE Credits, nor should it be considered a substitute for more formal training on the details and ethics of providing telemental health in general. This workshop/webinar shall serve the purpose of providing some much needed information on working specifically with couples in a telehealth capacity.

Our presenter is Dr. Sheila Addison, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who resides in California, where she works full time in her private practice providing in-person and Telemental Health therapy, consultations and supervision, and education. Dr. Addison is a well-known sexual and gender minority affirmative therapist, and works extensively with issues of sexuality, kink awareness, and overall social justice and intersectional identities. Dr. Addison brings a vast array of experience to this presentation, having worked in just about every aspect of our field - academics, research, clinical work; online and offline; and in service positions to our national organization (AAMFT), as well as others, and local/regional organizations. We are privileged to have her complete this presentation for us!

Participants are expected to have at least a working knowledge of what telemental health is. This workshop is suitable for everyone, from students just starting to see clients, to those seasoned therapists with many years of experience. However, this workshop is probably best suited to those therapists who do not have previous experience working with couples in a telehealth capacity.
