LGBTQ+ "It's not you, It's me"

When:  Oct 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  AAMFT Connecticut

“We have so much to unlearn” (- De La Vega)

Sometimes, unlearning and relearning can feel uncomfortable. Come join us to unpack fears, assumptions, and beliefs in working with the LGBTQ+ community.

We invite you to collaborate with us in “brave space,” where it will be messy yet where our goal is to grow and recognize that “it is not you, it's me.”

It is not about our clients; rather, it's about the way WE as therapists, counselors, healers, and treaters are acting and our behaviors. If you want to challenge your own narratives around the queer community and be able to better serve this population, this is the workshop for you.

Learning Objectives:

  • Developing insight to how clinical and personal assumptions and biases impact the ability to treat the LGBTQ+ community
  • Learning self compassion and resilience as a psychotherapist
  • Learning ways to create an inclusive space (including paperwork, office decor, space, etc.)
