All mental health professionals are required to have a basic competence in social and cultural
diversity. This training is one in a series the Arizona Interest Network of AAMFT is sponsoring
to increase awareness of and competence in working with Arizona’s communities.
Learning Objective 1
Participants will review the current state of mental health risk factors among Arizona’s Native
American populations.
Learning Objective 2
Participants will describe treatment differences between clients acculturated within
individualistic versus collectivist communities.
Learning Objective 3
Participants will discuss their own clinical expertise and articulate what changes if any they can
make to work with Native American clients more competently and/or increase access to their
services by Native American communities.
