8:00 – 8:30 a.m. Breakfast and Welcome Remarks

8:30 – 9:45 a.m. Imposter Syndrome Keynote (Valarie Young)
People who don’t feel like impostors are no more intelligent, capable, qualified, or talented than those who do. They just think different thoughts. That’s why the only way to stop feeling like an impostor, is to stop thinking like an impostor. Valarie Young is former management of a Fortune 200 company and an internationally-known expert and speaker on imposter syndrome.

  • Ways to define competence with realistic expectations
  • Coping and protecting mechanisms
9:45 – 10:00 a.m. Break

10:00 – 10:30 a.m. AAMFT & Engagement Programs: A Pathway to the Future (Tracy Todd)
During this session with AAMFT’s CEO, leaders will get an update on AAMFT’s current status, future direction, and how engagement programs play a key role in our association and profession’s development.

10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Workshop: Using Strategic Decision-Making to Maximize Impact (Amanda Darnley)
Highlighting tools such as the SWOT analysis and program evaluation matrix, this session will feature ways that leadership teams can approach planning and evaluation to help inform their decision making. Utilizing an interactive workshop setting, leaders will put these tools to practice and share ideas and insights with their peers.
To be covered:
  • Reviewing types of strategic decision-making tools
  • Utilize strategic decision-making tools for existing programs
  • Discuss potential impacts and outcomes for annual program planning

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Lunch and Learn: Budgeting for Success (Chris Michaels)
Engagement program leaders have a fiduciary duty to their members to manage the financial resources of the program. A key piece of this is establishing a strong annual budget and then utilizing this throughout the year to monitor finances.

  • Budgeting best practices and red flags
  • Using your budget to help evaluate your performance
  • Strategic spending versus wasting reserves

1:00 – 1:15 p.m. Break

1:15 – 2:00 p.m. Tips for Effective Messaging (Jill Bashore)
Whether it is to your members, potential members, key decision makers, or partners, writing effective messaging is a key element to success. But, it is only half the battle. How can you ensure your messages are being read? What are ways to extend your reach to new audiences?

  • Tips for crafting effective messages
  • Strategies for reaching new audiences
  • Methods for evaluating and measuring success

2:00 – 2:45 p.m. Developing Leaders with Intention (Tracy Todd)
Leadership pipeline development is a key aspect of every program because a strong program must outlive its current leaders. In this session we will look at ways to integrate leadership development into your program strategies.
To be covered:
  • Strategies to encourage emergent leader development and involvement
  • Utilizing appointments to meet program needs and avoid burnout

2:45 – 3:15 p.m. New Ways to Engage: Meeting Members Where They Are (Amanda Darnley and Jill Bashore)
As we introduce new technologies, there are more ways than ever to engage with your members. Join us as we highlight tips and tools for new ways to think of engagement activities.

  • Examples of ways other programs are encouraging new ways of engagement
